HOUSE RULES / Règles de la maison / Hausregeln / Reglas de la casa


At Chill Backpackers we want everyone to feel safe, happy and most importantly enjoy their stay with us. For this reason we have house rules that our guests must abide by during their stay. By booking with us, you agree to our house rules and our terms and conditions.


  1. No drugs in the hostel / Pas de drogues dans l'auberge / Keine Drogen in der Herberge / Sin drogas en el albergue
    🇬🇧 - We have a strict no drugs policy, anyone caught with drugs will be asked to leave immediately.

    🇫🇷 - Nous avons une politique stricte de tolérance zéro pour les drogues, toute personne surprise en possession de drogues se verra demander de partir immédiatement

    🇩🇪 - Wir haben eine strenge Null-Toleranz-Politik für Drogen; jeder, der mit Drogen erwischt wird, wird sofort gebeten zu gehen.

    🇪🇸 - Temos una estricta política de cero drogas. Cualquiera que sea sorprendido con drogas será invitado a abandonar inmediatamente.

  2. No smoking or vaping indoors / Interdiction de fumer ou de vapoter à l'intérieur / Rauchen oder Dampfen in geschlossenen Räumen verboten / No fumar ni vapear en el interior
    🇬🇧 - Queensland fire alarms are very sensitive, if the fire alarm is activated by smoking, vaping or candles etc caused by the guest, the fine of $1500 will be charged to you.

    🇫🇷 - Les alarmes incendie du Queensland sont très sensibles. Si l'alarme incendie est déclenchée en raison de la fumée, du vapotage, de bougies, etc. causée par le client, une amende de 1500 $ vous sera facturée.

  3. No Stealing / Pas de vol / Kein Diebstahl / No robar
    🇬🇧 - Anyone caught stealing items, belongings or food from the kitchen or rooms that is not theirs will be evicted immediately. Keep your eyes on your things – we take no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
    If you are conscious of any valuables, we can safely store these for you during your stay, free of charge at the reception.

    🇫🇷 - Toute personne surprise en train de voler des objets, des affaires ou de la nourriture de la cuisine ou des chambres qui ne lui appartient pas sera expulsée immédiatement. Gardez un œil sur vos affaires - nous déclinons toute responsabilité en cas de perte ou de vol d'objets. Si vous avez des objets de valeur, nous pouvons les stocker en toute sécurité pour vous pendant votre séjour, gratuitement à la réception.

    🇩🇪 - Jeder, der beim Stehlen von Gegenständen, persönlichen Besitztümern oder Lebensmitteln aus der Küche oder den Zimmern erwischt wird, die nicht ihm gehören, wird umgehend des Hauses verwiesen. Behalten Sie Ihre Sachen im Auge - wir übernehmen keine Verantwortung für verlorene oder gestohlene Gegenstände. Wenn Sie wertvolle Dinge bei sich haben, können wir diese während Ihres Aufenthalts sicher und kostenlos an der Rezeption aufbewahren.

    🇪🇸 - Cualquier persona sorprendida robando objetos, pertenencias o alimentos de la cocina o las habitaciones que no les pertenezcan será desalojada de inmediato. Mantén un ojo en tus cosas, no nos hacemos responsables de objetos perdidos o robados. Si tienes objetos de valor, podemos guardarlos de manera segura durante tu estancia, de forma gratuita en la recepción.

     
  4. Respect our staff and our building / Respectez notre personnel et notre bâtiment / Respektieren Sie unser Personal und unser Gebäude / Respeta a nuestro personal y nuestro edificio.
    🇬🇧 - Please ensure to keep your belongings and room clean and tidy.  As-well-as our kitchen and bathroom facilities. If you take food to your bedroom, remember to take the plates out and back to the kitchen and wash your dishes. Our staff are here to help you and ensure that you have an excellent stay with us. They are not here to tidy up your mess. We will not tolerate threatening or abusive language at any point during your stay here.

    🇫🇷 - Veuillez vous assurer de maintenir vos affaires et votre chambre propres et bien rangées, ainsi que nos installations de cuisine et de salle de bains.   5. Drink in Moderation / Buvez avec modération / In Maßen trinken / Bebe con moderación
    🇬🇧 - We all enjoy a good drink now and then, but please drink in moderation, if your drinking becomes a problem or creates disturbance, we will ask you to leave. No alcohol past 11:00PM on the terrace or communal areas.

    🇫🇷 - Nous apprécions tous une bonne boisson de temps en temps, mais veuillez boire avec modération. Si votre consommation d'alcool pose un problème ou crée des perturbations, nous vous demanderons de partir. Aucune consommation d'alcool après 23h00 sur la terrasse ou dans les espaces communs.

    🇩🇪 - Wir alle genießen hin und wieder ein gutes Getränk, aber bitte trinken Sie in Maßen. Wenn Ihr Trinkverhalten ein Problem darstellt oder Störungen verursacht, werden wir Sie bitten zu gehen. Ab 23:00 Uhr ist auf der Terrasse oder in den Gemeinschaftsbereichen kein Alkoholkonsum gestattet.

    🇪🇸 - odos disfrutamos de una buena bebida de vez en cuando, pero por favor, bebe con moderación. Si tu consumo de alcohol se convierte en un problema o causa disturbios, te pediremos que te vayas. No se permite el alcohol en la terraza ni en las áreas comunes después de las 11:00 PM.


🇬🇧 - Anyone caught breaking the house rules will be asked to leave immediately, and will not be refunded for any remaining balance of your stay. Depending on the severity, we may also block you from booking with us again and may inform other hostels in Brisbane of your actions. Any damage or fines caused by you or your guests will be charged to you. If you refuse to leave when asked, you will be trespassing and we will call the police.

Tout dommage ou amende causé par vous ou vos invités vous sera facturé. Si vous refusez de partir lorsque vous êtes prié de le faire, vous serez en infraction, et nous appellerons la police.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)


What is the Booking and Cancellation policy? 

Standard reservations are charged in full 24 hours prior to check-in.
Non-refundable reservations will be charged at any point from when the reservation is made up until the check-in date.
The first night’s accommodation is payable at the time of booking. 


Please note that online travel agents such as Expedia, Hostelworld & Booking.com may offer slightly different booking and cancellation policies. The specifics of the cancellation policy can be found on your booking confirmation email.


Once you have paid and are checked in, all payments are final and non-refundable. If you leave early during your stay, you will not be refunded.


What time is check in and check out?
Check-in is available after 15:00 on the day of your arrival.

Check-out is before 10:00 on the day of your departure.


We do not offer early-check in.

Late check-out until 12:00 is available for $20.00, this must be paid for on arrival prior to check-in and is subject to availability.

If you do not check-out before 10:00am without letting us know, the late check-out fee will be charged to your card.


All guests are expected to leave the rooms in the clean state in which they entered, any guests that leave mess/rubbish or additional items in the rooms will be charged a cleaning fee and/or item removal fee.


Do you have parking?

There are 14 spots available at Chill for parking, this can be booked in advance via the Parkable app, the car park is called "328 Roma Street".

Entry to car park is best off Roma Street and turn left just after Chill. Look out for Parkable Signage.
After Booking, please park only in the bay you are assigned. If you would like to park long-term (weekly or monthly) please contact Parkable support team and they can make a bay available for you. Please note that cancellation of long-term parking requires 1 term's notice (1 week or 1 month accordingly). If you experience any issues, or need assistance, please email support@parkable.com or call 07 3135 7429.


Anyone parking without paying will have their car towed by Parkable and have to pay a release fee of $285.

Chill Management are not responsible for any incidents in the car park and are not able to reduce or waive the fine for towing.


Do you have somewhere to do laundry?

We have washing and drying facilities available, these are located through the black door in the reception and across the car park. The machine's are $6 for a wash and $6 for a dry and only take $1 coins.
If you need coins for the machines we can exchange this at the reception for you, please note we cannot give cash for card payments and can only exchange notes for coins.


Do you have a kitchen?

We have fully equipped kitchen facilities, gas hob, microwave and ample storage space on shelves and in fridges.

Please ensure to label your food with a name sticker and also the colour of the week.
Fridges are cleaned every Friday afternoon and the colour of the week sticker will be changed. Anything that is not properly labelled will be removed and discarded within 24 hours. This is for the benefit of all of our guests to keep the fridges clean and clear of any rotting food if guest's forget to take it with them after checking out.




What happens if I hear the fire alarm?

Fire evacuation signs are located in every corridor and in every room. There are fire exits on each side of the building. If you hear the fire alarm, please exit the property in a safe and calm manner and do not return until you have been told by a fire officer or staff member that it is safe to do so.


Can I bring a friend in who is not staying here?

Non-guests can come into the common areas only, with permission from the Reception.
Guests are responsible for any person they bring into the hostel, if your guest causes any damage, this will be charged to you. If you sneak non-guests into the building or your room without permission you will be asked to leave with no option of refund. 


Can I play my music?

Music can be played at a moderate level between the hours of 11am to 11pm, please be mindful of other guests in the room, if they ask you to turn it down or turn it off, please do so.


Do you take a deposit?
A Pre-authorisation of $1.00 will be placed on your card at check-in. This allows us to charge your card for any incidentals or damages if any during your stay.

Do you have disabled access?
Unfortunately due to the nature and design of our building, we are not best suitable for those with accessibility needs. Whilst we do have a lift and accessible bathroom, our lift is locked at 11pm at night for safety and security reasons. For this reason we do not recommend people with accessibility needs book with us. We are happy to advise on alternative accommodation.


I’ve lost my key. Can I get a new one?
We will deactivate the old key and re-activate a new one for you so we can ensure only you have access to your room. The cost for a replacement key card is $10.00. 


Where is the nearest Shop?

The nearest supermarket to us is Coles Petrie Terrace, The Barracks, Petrie Terrace, Queensland, 4000. Opening hours are 7am - 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am - 6pm on Sundays. Coles is a short 5 minute walk from Chill and has everything you will need for your stay.


Do you allow pets?
No. Unfortunately some guests may have allergies, therefore for the benefit of all guests we cannot allow pets.


I don’t have an international passport, can I still check in?
We are an international backpacker hostel. We like to create an ambient atmosphere where every guest is in the same boat. Whilst we can make exceptions for national guests without an international passport, please note this is strictly at manager’s discretion and we reserve the right to refuse entry without reason if you do not bring an international passport. We recommend informing us prior to arrival to avoid disappointment. If we do refuse entry to any guest prior to check-in, you will be refunded in full for the stay.


I want to stay longer, can I extend my stay?

Let us know if you plan to stay longer than your reservation. If you don’t book ahead your bed may be sold to someone else. We cannot guarantee the same room will be available, nor can we guarantee that group bookings will be placed into the same room.

We have weekly rates available, enquire at the reception. Please note these rates are discounted on the basis that they are non-refundable, if you leave early you will not be refunded for any outstanding payment.
